The Lady of the Camelias

La Dama de las Camelias

(The Lady of the Camelias)

A CO-PRODUCTION ISRAEL-SPAIN

La Dama de las Camelias – A joint and unique multi participants production of the Israeli Flamenco Dance Company COMPAS (artistic director: Michal Natan) and the Miguel Angel Espana Ballet of Spain (artistic director: Miguel Angel).

A fascinating flamenco show based on the greatest and famous love story, written by Alexandre Dumas Jr. in 1848.

The Lady of the Camellias is the story of Marguerite Gautier, a young courtesan, or kept woman, in Paris in the mid 1800’s, that falls in love with a young man, Armand Duval, and then tries to escape from her questionable past. Unfortunately, it comes back to haunt her and she ends up returning to that life and dies painfully and alone.

The story has become a play and an opera (La Traviata by Verdi), and gained many   productions in cinema and television.
